33-year-old veteran says he’ll sign extension if he plays well “My future is at Man City”
“My future is at Man City.”
Manchester City have signed veteran right-back Kyle Walker to a two-year contract extension. He’s 33 years old, but he’s so good, you have to treat him right.
City officially announced that they have signed Walker to a contract extension through 2026. Walker’s contract with City expires next summer, and while he has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer, this two-year deal puts those rumors to rest for now.
Walker is entering his mid-30s, but is still considered one of the best right-backs in England. He was a key part of City’s ‘treble’ last season. Since joining the club in 2017, he has won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, two Community Shields, a Champions League and a European Super Cup.
He recently scored a sensational equalizer for England against Ukraine. It was his first goal in an England shirt. Behind the scenes, England manager Gareth Southgate revealed that he had “asked Walker to retire from the national team twice”. Southgate said he had to change the generation, but Walker was his priority.
Big European clubs don’t usually give players long-term contracts beyond two years once they reach their 30s. The reasoning is that you can’t go against the grain. The bigger the club, the more determined they are. But Walker was an exception.
“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract. 메이저놀이터 My future is at Man City and that’s the best thing for me,” he said.
“I’ve enjoyed six years at this fantastic club. I’ve had an amazing manager, great teammates and staff. The fans are the best. I’ve had all the support I could ask for.” “Last season’s treble will never be forgotten. Now I’m ready to get back to work and try to win more trophies. I’m happy to continue playing for a club that competes for trophies and I look forward to seeing what the future brings.”
City were also pleased with Walker’s extension. “Walker is an outstanding footballer. He has pace, strength, experience and that makes him an important part of our team. For me, he is the best right-back in the world and a player with unique abilities. He brings a special dynamic to our team,” explained the signing.
