Batter Ohtani, ‘victory gift’ to battered pitcher Ohtani
‘Baseball Genius’ Ohtani Shohei (28, Los Angeles Angels) played opposite games on the mound and at bat.
As a pitcher, he was sluggish, hitting two homers, but he led the victory with three hits at the plate.
On the 28th (Korean time), in the 2023 American Professional Baseball Major League (MLB) Oakland Athletics home game held at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, USA, Ohtani appeared as the starting pitcher and designated hitter No. 3, and as a pitcher, 3 hits (2 home runs) in 6 innings. He allowed 5 runs with 2 walks, 2 walks, 8 strikeouts, and as a hitter, he went 5 at bats, 3 hits, 1 RBI and 2 runs.
Ohtani showed perfect appearance both on the mound and at bat until the third inning.
As a starting pitcher at the beginning of the first inning, he cooked three opponent batters with a three-way strike, and then got off to a fresh start by producing an infield hit to second base in the first at bat in the bottom of the first inning.
In the top of the 2nd and 3rd innings, he struck out 2 each and blocked it with a series of triplets. It was literally perfect.
At the end of the 3rd inning, 1st, 1st and 3rd base, he performed a one-man show by hitting a double at the right time in the middle left.
However, ‘pitcher’ Ohtani suddenly started shaking in the top of the 4th inning with a 5-0 lead.
After giving the lead hitter Esteuri Luis a fit ball, he allowed a wild throw and a walk, showing an uneasy appearance.
In the 1st and 3rd base crises that followed, Brent Rooker even hit a superior 3-run home run.
It wasn’t over. Ohtani continued to shake. After giving up a hit ball to Jace Peterson, another wild throw came out, allowing Shay Langeliers a two-run homer in the middle of the tie. ㅋㅋㅋ벳
Ohtani gave up 3 hits (2 home runs), 2 walks and 2 walks in the 4th inning alone.
However, batter Ohtani did not waver. He hit a triple in the middle right in the bottom of the 6th inning with a lead of 7-5, and then stepped on the groove when the follow-up batter hit to get a wedge point.
The Angels won 8-7, and pitcher Ohtani won his 4th win of the season (undefeated, 1.85 ERA).
Batter Ohtani missed a cycling hit as he failed to add a home run after hitting a hit, double and triple. However, he raised his season batting average from 0.261 to 0.278 and kept his team and his own victory.
