‘Real 7 vs Liverpool 4’… What is the best 11 between Real and Liverpool?
Ahead of the match between Real Madrid and Liverpool, the best 11 of both teams has been released.
Real Madrid and Liverpool will play the second leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 at 5:00 am on the 16th (Korean time) at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, Spain.
The first leg, which was held at home to Liverpool earlier, ended with Real winning 5-2.
Reporters James Pearce and Guillermo Rai from The Athletic picked the combined best 11 ahead of the two teams’ confrontation. With both men picking seven from Real Madrid and four from Liverpool, opinions were divided over three positions.
The formation was the same 4-3-3. Pearce chose Liverpool Alisson as goalkeeper.
“It’s hard to choose, but technically Alisson has the upper hand. He’s saved Liverpool from trouble a couple of times so far,” he explained.
Rai raised Courtois’ hand, saying, “Courtois has the advantage in the team, including last season’s Champions League final.”
The defense team agreed. They chose Andy Robertson at left-back, Virgil van Dijk and Eder Militang in centres, and Dani Carvajal at right-back.
Opinions were divided in two of the three midfield positions. While Pearce chose Aurelien Chuameni as the central defensive midfielder, Lai chose Fabinho. 슈퍼벳 토토
Pearce insisted: “Chouameni missed the first game through injury, but he has a lot of talent. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also wanted to sign Chouameni last summer, so it needs no words.”
Rai said, “Chua Meni has more options and potential, but Fabinho is better tactically. Looking at his recent performance, he is better than Chua Meni, who seems to be suffering from injuries in the World Cup.”
Luka Modric was the same, but Pearce chose Eduardo Camavinga for the remaining spot and Toni Kroos for Rai.
Pearce explained, “I would choose Camavinga’s youth over Cross’s experience. He also performed outstandingly at Anfield,” and Lai explained, “Kross has a better track record than Jordan Henderson. He remains an orchestra conductor to this day. He directs most of the rhythm of the game,” he said.
The top three in the front line were Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema and Mohamed Salah.
